What this means to me is that I would say its a safer bet that the Pirates or Cubs will hang around til the end than the Cardinals running away with this division.

The Pace they are on would give them 104 wins by seasons end. Over 100 wins has only been done 10 times in history and only 2 times in the last 60 years. Since sabermetrics seems to be in flavor around here today……The odds of regression are looking pretty good.

It just seems there is a sloppiness to swinging, sliding, fielding, diving, catching in what was to be the player to make the Bucs outfield the best in the business. But like you say he is young. Is his stock in decline or is that premature?

My only point was to dismiss it totally without anyone having specific knowledge or access to of all the MLB teams financials is shortsighted. There may be a team out there right now with a debt crisis, we just don’t know. Littlefield and McClatchy were dense, agreed, but they did not corner the market on stupid baseball moves. I only cited one, I am sure there are a lot of “financial crisis” baseball moves made over the last 10 years.
