He was never the same after that.

The Huntington regime’s near absolute adherence to limits for pitch count in a game and innings pitched for a season means the current pitchers are being handled much better than Snell and Co. ever were.

That said, this comes after a 7-3 road trip that included a sWEEp of the Giants on San Fran. And before that a sweep of the Mets who are in first place. This team is 23-11 since May 9 and it hasn’t all been against crappy teams. I think that’s is the broader point DK makes about Pittsburgh fatalism and he is spot on. No doubt about it. None.

Of course this seasons outcome is yet to be written It will be based on how this team plays vs the cards and Cubs more than anything else. And good news is they have plenty of chances to prove themselves or not.
